The nomination period for the 2025 cohort of RSC Members - New Fellows and Members of the RSC College and RSC Awards - is now open. We encourage you to begin considering nominations for your colleagues, especially if you are a current Fellow or College member.
The deadline is December 13, 2024 at 5pm Pacific for Fellows and College Members nomination. The deadline for medals and awards has been extended to March 14, 2025.
Fellows and College Members:
In order to facilitate planning and support, we request notice of planned nominations (including requests for institutional nomination and renomination). We are also aiming to prioritize institutional nominations under UBC’s President for departments or units that do not have access to Fellows or College members as nominators. ORPA support will be available for nominations of UBC research faculty members regardless of nominator.

Medals
Medals and Awards due March 14, 2025
Candidates may be nominated by existing Royal Society Members or via UBC institutional nomination. We encourage nominators and those interested to contact our office for nomination support, including consultation, package review, and/or coordinating institutional nomination.
The following Medals and Awards are available:
- Henry Marshall Tory Medal: For outstanding research in any branch of astronomy, chemistry, mathematics, physics, or an allied science
- Jason A. Hannah Medal: For an important publication in the history of medicine
- John L. Synge Award: For outstanding research in any of the branches of the mathematical sciences
- McLaughlin Medal: For important research of sustained excellence in medical science
- Michael P. Païdoussis Medal: For outstanding contributions to research, education and leadership in applied mechanics. Solid continuum mechanics, fluid mechanics and fluid-structure interaction are all included
- Miroslaw Romanowski Medal: For scientific work relating to environmental problems
- Pierre Chauveau Medal: For a distinguished contribution to knowledge in the humanities
- Rutherford Memorial Medals: For outstanding research in physics and in chemistry
- Sir John William Dawson Medal: For important contributions of knowledge in multiple domains
- Yvan Allaire Medal: For outstanding contributions in governance of public and private organizations
