The Royal Society of Canada is offering nine (9) distinct Medals and Awards this year in multiple domains, including the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, medical sciences, and interdisciplinary research.
Deadline: March 31, 2023
There is no internal selection process. Candidates may be nominated by existing Royal Society Members or via UBC institutional nomination. We encourage nominators and those interested to contact our office for nomination support, including consultation, package review, and/or coordinating institutional nomination.
The specific Medals and Awards available in 2023 are:
- Henry Marshall Tory Medal - For outstanding research in any branch of astronomy, chemistry, mathematics, physics, or an allied science
- Jason A. Hannah Medal - For an important publication in the history of medicine
- Pierre Chauveau Medal - For a distinguished contribution to the humanities other than Canadian literature and Canadian history
- Sir John William Dawson Medal – For sustained contributions in two domains of interest to the RSC or in interdisciplinary research
- McLaughlin Medal - For important research of sustained excellence in any branch of medical sciences
- Michael P. Païdoussis Medal - For outstanding contributions to research, education and leadership in applied mechanics
- Miroslaw Romanowski Medal - For scientific work relating to environmental problems
- Rutherford Memorial Medals - For outstanding research in physics and in chemistry
- Yvan Allaire Medal - For an outstanding contribution in governance of public and private organizations
