King Charles III Coronation Medal Internal Selection

UBC has been invited to submit nominations (via Universities Canada) for the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of individuals' outstanding contributions to their communities in the areas of service, the environment and sustainability, and our nation’s diversity. Nominees may be faculty, staff, students, etc. As UBC is limited to 9 nominees, the VPRI will coordinate an internal selection process.  

To suggest an individual from UBC for nomination for this award, please fill in the form below and attach a document with the following responses by Monday, October 14, 2024 at 11:59 pm:

Nomination Document contents (single pdf, to be attached below):

1. An overall summary explaining the nature, significance and impact of the nominee’s contributions to their community (maximum 250 words).

2. Theme - Specify which theme(s) is highlighted through the achievements and contributions of the nominee
    • service (i.e. service to community, organization or institution);
    • the environment and sustainability; or
    • our nation’s diversity.

3. Impact - How the individual has helped to build the Canada of today. Discuss the achievements and impacts of the nominee, focusing on the contributions they have made to the country, province, territory, region, or community (maximum 250 words).
*If possible, please quantify the impact. If the impact is not easily quantifiable, please use qualitative data and/or storytelling to demonstrate the transformative impact. 

4. Leadership - How the individual has distinguished themselves from others in the same field through their achievements and sustained contributions. Discuss evidence of initiative, leadership and distinction (maximum 250 words).

5. Nominations must also address one of the following (maximum 250 words):
    Integrity – Highlight how the nominee has demonstrated long service and good conduct as a volunteer or member of an organization; or
    Professionalism – Highlight how the nominee has demonstrated high professionalism; or
    Pride – Highlight how the deeds or activities of the nominee have brought great credit to Canada.
